The price of your holiday will be confirmed to you by email or post along with further information including a grocery order form from the local village store, organic meat menu available to purchase at Portnellan and holiday curtailment information.
Estate Services and Amenities
We provide Egyptian Cotton bed-linen and towels. Cots (no linen) and high chairs. TV and DVD with freeview SKY channels. Estate loch and river fishing (within season). Boats and Canadian canoes. Mountain bikes are available to hire (Fee applies. See below) Wifi available throughout the estate (Fee applies. See below) BBQ hire and clay pigeon shooting are available (Fee applies. See below) DVD library, selection of board games, local maps, local information located in the visitors centre.
Egyptian cotton bed-linen, towels, bathrobes, slippers and luxury Arran Aromatic toiletries are all included. All beds have Goose down Messentex treated duvets. Cots (no linen) and high chairs can be provided upon request. Full SKY TV package, Blu Ray DVD player, Nintendo Wii, Weber BBQ and WiFi are all included. Estate loch and river fishing (within season), use of mountain bikes and bike carrier for your car, boats and Canadian canoes are also included. There is a DVD library, selection of board games, local maps and information available in the visitors centre. Clay pigeon shooting is also available (Fee applies. See below)
Credit card and Paypal transactions incur a fee equivalent to 2.5% of the total charge. Debit card, cheque and BACS payments there are no fees applied. Euros can also be accepted settled into a Euro account details provided upon request. All fees are to be settled by the guest upon booking. Please contact Cameron for details if required.
Electricity, Water and Recycling Fee
Usage is charged by meter, read on arrival and departure, and calculated at the published rate of 20p per unit. Stob Binnein, Curlew and Merlin Cottages have a low-rate evening tariff of 15p per unit and normal rate of 20p per unit Expect to settle between £36 and £48 per week depending on demand, season and ambient outside temperature. Settlement is made upon departure.
A Weber gas BBQ can be provided. It will be brought to your property upon request. There is a £10 usage fee (free for 5 star). BBQ gas can be purchased from the visitors centre.
SKY boxes with full package are available to hire from reception for 4 star accommodation charged at £20 per stay. Full SKY TV is provided in 5 star properties free of charge.
Wifi service is available throughout the estate. There is a £20 per stay.
Can be hired at £15.00 per day and include the use of a bike carrier for your car, emergency repair kit, pump and helmet. There are a selection of helmets for your use but it is advisable to bring your own fitted helmet.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
This can be organised upon request. Please enquire when booking. Charged at £1.35 per shot and includes the use of shotgun, trap and trapper. Cartridges, clays and supervision are all provided.
All properties are NON-SMOKING.
Number of Guests
Properties accommodate the number of persons shown on the tariff. Occupation must not exceed the lodge's maximum.
One small dog is permitted in certain 4 star properties by prior arrangement only, at a charge of £25 per week £12.50 per short stay. We are dog-lovers at Portnellan, but in the interests of safety and enjoyment your pet must be kept under control at all times. Please be aware the surrounding lands are working farms with sheep and cattle. A cage or crate is preferred for your pet to rest in, but at the very least you must bring suitable bedding, plenty of towels and your pet must be kept clean and dry when in the holiday property. Pets cannot be allowed on chairs or beds. Please collect your dogs waste and dispose of appropriately.
Arrival and Departure Times
Arrival is any time after 5pm (June-September) The properties will be ready at different intervals throughout the day of your arrival. We will make every effort for an earlier check in time. Especially within the shoulder months (September-May). Please contact to discuss.
If you plan to arrive late in the evening, please let us know in advance so we can ensure you're well taken care of.
Departure is up to 10am so we have time to prepare for our next guests. Later departures at certain times of the year and for short stays can be arranged by prior arrangement. Please call to discuss.
Groceries, butcher meat, fish and other provisions can be provided on your arrival day. Contact details for local businesses that provide these services can be found on the home page of the website. Please contact the business directly who will forward an order form to be completed. You can either settle directly or with Portnellan at the end of your holiday.
When you arrive you will see that your holiday property is cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. You are expected to maintain these high standards of cleanliness in the property throughout your holiday. Upon departure the property must be left in the same condition as it was found. We have a team of housekeepers but they are not slaves - so please respect the property as your own and do not present us with the embarrassing situation of having to ask for a cleaning surcharge of up to £100. Glasses do get broken, but they do have to be replaced, so please note you will be asked to settle for any broken glasses. They are £4 each.
A security/key refundable deposit of £100 is required on arrival and can be settled by credit/debit card. Any damage, breakage or spillage in your holiday property should be reported so we can maintain the high standards our guests expect. Repairs or extra cleaning will incur an additional charge, which must be settled in full.
Full weeks: A deposit of £200 is required on booking and the balance must be paid no later than 8 weeks (56 days) before your arrival. Cancelled holidays are subject to the charges detailed below. Cancellation Indemnity insurance is available on request at a small additional cost. Short stays (less than full weeks) must be paid in full on booking.
If you're not able to enjoy the holiday you've booked, we recommend you tell us as soon as you can. Cancellation charges are based on the likelihood of re-selling your holiday. 8 weeks before, deposit retained. 8-6 weeks before, 50% holiday cost. 6-4 weeks before, 60% holiday cost. 4-2 weeks before, 80% holiday cost. 2 weeks before, full holiday cost.
